In 1990, George Jenesky ended his Days of Our Lives run as Nick Corelli. He began playing the role in 1981 and also appeared on the show in 1984 before becoming a series regular in 1986. At the time of his demise, Nick was suspected of causing the explosion that killed Steve "Patch" Johnson (who later turned out to be alive). He died in a shooting that became the subject of a murder mystery, and ultimately, the shooter was revealed to be Steve's mother, Jo Johnson, who was avenging her son's death.

In 1990, General Hospital’s Felicia Jones (Kristina Wagner) went into labor as she prepared to give birth to her first daughter with husband Frisco Jones (Jack Wagner), Maxie. Halloween was still in full swing, and Felicia went into labor while wearing a clown costume and had gotten locked out of the brownstone, so she went down to the docks. There, she overheard Robin's buddies talking about having a seance in the catacombs (to summon the spirit of Victor Jerome). She trailed them down in the catacombs and busted up the gathering. When she subsequently went into labor, she called Frisco from a pay phone, but he only heard part of what she was saying.

In 2006, Days of Our Lives's Kayla Brady flatlined after being poisoned with a biotoxin. The mood was tense at the hospital as Kayla's loved ones learned that her situation was growing more dire, and a doctor proposed upping the dosage of the experimental drug being administered to her. Desperate to save her, Shawn, Kayla's father, gave the go-ahead, even though the doctor explained the risks involved. But Kayla had an adverse reaction, had a seizure, and flatlined. (She ultimately pulled through.)

In 2007, Paul Ryan (Roger Howarth) and Rosanna Cabot (Cady McClain) wed on As The World Turns. Paul was a bit distracted during the ceremony, as Meg Snyder had just told him that she believed she was pregnant with his child (a fact Paul did not disclose to his bride). Paul told Rosanna, "My whole life, I felt like there was a piece missing. That there was some part of me that wasn't there, and if it was there, then I would feel whole. And you, Rosanna, you are that part.... From now on, I get to stand by you, and I get to be a better and a stronger man for you, and because of you." Rosanna noted, "I know that we have been here before; we have promised to love, honor and cherish each other before. But this time, we know how precious a gift that love is. We know that we have to fight to protect it. And that is why the bond between us now is stronger than it has ever been. It is unbreakable."
